Depending on how you want to engage your participants (players), you can choose from various task types in Wittario Studio. There are six different ways for players to answer tasks, which we describe here:

Free Text

With this task type, the player can write their own answer in the text field under the task/question. This is a creative task type that is not automatically graded unless you enable that functionality.

Photo

In this creative task type, the player needs to take a picture with the camera. In the Wittario app, the picture must be taken directly (not selected from the camera roll), while in the web client (e.g., on a PC), the player can upload a saved image.

Video

For the video task, the player must record a video to answer this creative task type. In the Wittario app, the task can be answered by taking a video of up to 20 seconds. During gameplay in the web client (e.g., on a PC), the player can upload a pre-recorded video.

Multiple Choice

With the multiple-choice task, the player receives several answer options to choose from. As the gamemaster, you register two or more answer options in the form of text or numbers. You can choose if none, one, or more answer options are correct. The player immediately sees if they answered correctly.

AR

The AR (augmented reality) task is a sorting task. It requires access to the player's device camera as the AR objects will appear in the camera view. The player must sort predefined answer options into two different categories. The answer options are displayed as scrolls on the screen, and the two categories will appear as chests. The question is displayed as text between the chests.

This task type can only be played in the Wittario app. The AR task is automatically graded based on the set score. Consider giving a total number of points that is divisible by the number of answer options listed. Remember to register the alternatives under the correct category when creating the task.

Information

The information task requires no response. This task type is useful if you want to convey information that doesn't require an answer from the player. For example, you can use it to inform, orient, give instructions, etc. This task type is also good for reflection exercises; for example, formulated as: "Think about a time when...", "Discuss together about...", or "Reflect on..."

Remember to assign points to the task type you choose if you want it to be automatically graded during gameplay.
